More wood moving and chopping. I'm about halfway through the piles under the house that Susie left behind. Most of it is firewood, but some will be good for replacing bits of deck or wall. I think i have found a piece that can be used to mend the little chair that we picked up in Brisbane for free.

Aaron and his mate came to chop down some more trees - namely the big polonia that died when we took down its mates, and the palm trees that lined the back of the house. J dug up the tree- fern in an attempt to rescue it. They took away a good amount of the polonia for free, but my garden is now full of broken trees :(

K slept through the chainsawing, but woke up as they were finishing off the polonia. She was rather upset at the noise - she sat trustingly on my knee with teddy and fairy bear book for a while, and I took her to see what the boys were up to - that stimulated her interest!

Today i asked her to fetch my other sandal and she brought it to me. She also walked with me to get a new nappy each time. After a big lunch, she wasn't interested in any dinner. Hope she doesnt wake hungry later tonight.

Good news - NSW is going to subsidise solar panel output so come mid-2009 we wont have any electric bills - our inital investment in the solar panels should be paid off within 2 years.

What are we going to do with all these lumps of trees?

Got all hot and sweaty, moving bits of wood from one side of the house to the other. J got out the chainsaw and we spent just half an hour chopping down two palm trees at the back of the house. The first went well, the second looked dodgy for a while, but J took it easy and down it came. Adrenaline rush as tree falls :)

All 5 of the palm trees have to go as they will get in the way of the solar panels we are going to install sometime early next year. Aaron is coming tommorrow to do the other palms for us.

K is afraid of womble.

Went down to pick up the keys to the house. We were very excited to finally be taking possession of our little bush house. On our way we stopped in Ikea to get some ideas and didn't emerge until 4 hours later. There should be a health warning on those places...

We were greeted by a local - a huge Huntsman spider (yes its a beast) just sitting on the kitchen wall. Jay didnt know how i'd react to this beastie and tried to stop me from seeing him... but you know me, i'll poke just about anything with a long enough stick...

Jay captured him and put his cage outside to deal with later. We put a couple more spiders out into the garden and had a cuppa tea... only we had no cups - only the tiny expresso set we had shoved in the car at the last moment. Anyway we sat on our deck, after unearthing a couple of rusted chairs from the garden (one of which turned out to be an ants nest) for a while fantasising about all the things we were going to do to the place. Then when the mosquitos got too much, we retreated inside.

Having no bed, we spent an uncomfortable night on the floor wrapped up in sleeping bags, dreaming of spiders...
